One of the main reasons why hybrid cars have not made their mark on customers is the reviews and the attached ill repute that they have gained about not being a comfort oriented version of the gasoline powered car. Though the hybrid cars did give a lot in terms of low emission and high fuel efficiency yet the driver or owner of the car also desired comfort style and performance, which were very obviously absent.

Hybrid car – Ride to the future

Hybrid cars are not some hype, they are actually scientific innovations which can make use of both gas as well electricity, thereby making itself the most cost efficient and at the same time an environment friendly vehicle.

The majority of these cars have two modified engines, one that runs on gas and the other that runs on electricity. Both the engines actually play their part, with the gasoline engine giving a kick start for starting and stopping, while the electric engine makes the car move. This helps cut down emission thereby helping the environment to stay clean. And, not to forget saving on money as a result of using electricity more than gasoline.

Technically, two types of hybrid car technologies exist, namely the series type and the parallel type. In series type, the functioning starts with the gasoline engine and over a certain period of time when the engine reaches a definite speed, the electric engine takes over. Here, the gas engine can be used to charge the batteries of the car for later use. In series, both the engines are never made to work together. The parallel type of design is very similar to the series type but the difference lies in the fact that the parallel type uses electric engine simultaneously with gasoline to increase the power boost of the vehicle, thereby making it more efficient.

Hybrid cars, no doubt, are economical in terms of fuel use in the long run. However, at the moment they are a bit heavy on the pocket. But, things are going to change soon, as governments will take up steps to make it more affordable because of its many advantages.

is your ride to the future. Recent advancement in technologies, especially in the area of automobiles, has proved to be more than beneficial for mankind, provided we utilize it effectively. With all the controversies and publicity of global warming and other man made environmental changes, the hybrid car comes as a boon.

Pros & Cons

There are many arguments for and against hybrid cars, of course when they are running they are better for the environment; but there is also the argument that actually making the car is as harmful as driving an old gas guzzler for the next ten years. So which of these arguments are myths and which of these have a little science behind them to back it up? Not to mention when you are buying an automobile, what are the benefits and negative effects that buying this type of car will have on you. Well on this website we will be going over the pros and the cons of hybrid cars, and here are just a few of the basics to start with:

PROS

Higher MPG: Save money on gas and cut down on the earth’s dependence on oil and its by-products. Definitely the biggest perk, and most pressing issue in the decision to buy a hybrid vehicle.

Less Pollution: While Hybrids are running on electric motors they are not putting any pollutants into the atmosphere, points for the planet savers.

Tax Breaks: In the USA tax breaks are in place for those who buy a hybrid this year, not to mention for all you London dwellers out there, tired of paying the congestion charge, don’t worry about it if you drive a hybrid!

Better Performance: Don’t go expecting your next sports car, but these cars can be designed less for economy and more for power, on some of these cars the electric engine actually boosts power performance rather than merely replacing it. For one of these types of hybrids, think Lexus.

CONS

Hybrid Batteries: They don’t last forever and are expensive to replace, not to mention the components are surprisingly bad for the environment. Fixing your car if it all goes wrong can cost you up to $8000 just to put in a new battery.

Cost: Most hybrids cost upwards of $3000 more than their gas counterpart. Even if you are saving on gas, the initial layout of money is pretty steep. Not to mention getting them repaired may cost a little bit more, on the bright side you don’t need to worry about oil changes and maintenance as often.

Safety: Emergency crews are now getting special training for hybrid car accidents, because if something goes wrong and that battery fails to shut down in an accident, that is a lot of electrics to deal with. However, if all safety measures go according to plan they are just as safe as their counterparts.
