People do not have the perfect answer for the numerous ’What If'questions yet. What if the car does not work properly? What if I am stranded? What if the car breaks down? What if I have to spend a lot of money maintaining the car during the first few years? These questions have no perfect answers.

A lot depends on how far you are ready to trust the technology yet. The sad part is that a person who is making a huge investment by purchasing a vehicle is just not prepared to operate on faith. He wants a technology that is tried and tested and is completely safe. Unfortunately, hybrid automobiles are not at that stage yet. You may find many hybrid cars on the street but all it takes is a single breakdown of a single car for people to raise questions on the consistency and reliability of the technology.

This may not be a very fair and sensible approach but this is how things work. In such a scenario, hybrid technology will have to perform in a consistent manner over a long period of time to ensure that such basic and fundamental good questions are not raised. People too will have to learn to operate on a bit of faith and must consider the long term implications.

Hybrid cars are the need of the hour and people who think that it is just a trick played by the car manufacturers to make more money are in for a surprise, since that’s not the case. Transportation is only going to get more and more pollution free and this is for the good of the planet.

I know there are many who are happy to buy the low cost petrol and diesel cars, but let me tell you one thing: very soon you might have to pay certain taxes for owning these cars and you would wish that you would have rather bought a hybrid car. If I have to compare between a conventional car and a hybrid car then I can only see benefits when it comes to a hybrid. The only time you will see a hybrid car scoring less would be when you will compare it with another hybrid car.

I have always been a fan of Toyota cars and I recently bought a hybrid car from Toyota. The car is nothing less than perfect. The technology it uses has made the fuel consumption so low that all I can say is that it saves a lot of money. And if you are going to drive your hybrid car then you have another benefit. With a hybrid car you don’t have to pay any congestion charge or road tax, so that’s saving me money in three ways. I am so impressed with this green living that the next I am buying is a Solar Panel. I have even enquired about the prices at Solar Panels Kent and I think they have some great offers. I just hope that I will be able to save more money.

The MILA Alpin’s design is modular so it can use parts and systems from other cars. Propulsion and drivetrain systems in particular are adaptable in the MILA Alpin, whose flexible design allows it to easily be a hybrid with low emissions.

The car also boasts independent suspension and electronic stability program systems, so handling is excellent. The designers gave the car optimum weight distribution for good traction, as well other impressive features ideal for off-roading, like its ability to climb 45-degree inclines. So chances are very soon when you do your Stansted transfers you may be able to opt for one of these all purpose 4×4’s.

The interior is also well-designed, with innovative adaptable seating arrangements and an expansive panoramic roof that allows for impressive visibility for all occupants.

Hybrids have come in for a lot of criticism in recent months. The Mail online even ran a story spotlighting a rare incident in the US where a hybrid had been left to charge overnight in a couple’s garage only for the house to burn down a few hours later. The fact that fire fighters could only speculate as to the probable cause of the fire shows that a lot of the negative press has been propaganda.

Hybrids may not be the best that they can be yet, but that is only because of the oil industry at large holding back technological progress and maintaining a strange-hold on the market. It is common knowledge that many oil companies own the patents and technology for greener energy production. The reason the general public have not had access to this technology is because of the oil companies'reluctance to let go of a market they completely control. With hybrids becoming more and more popular it is only a matter of time before someone outmanoeuvres the oil industry and produces cleaner fuel.

A definite pro of hybrid cars is the ability to gain internet access whilst you’re driving one. Many models are now coming with roaming Wi-Fi access installed as standard allowing drivers and passengers to browse the net whilst travelling. The roaming charges are not the best, but by thinking ahead an alternative worldwide roamig sim card can be inserted into a USB add-on and used to access the web whilst driving. This can be very handy if cash flow is an issue. The only con to the use of the internet in the car is the drain it can have on the hybrid’s battery. With hybrid’s taking usually several hours at best to charge, a faster drain on the vehicle’s battery is not a desirable option.

Another pro to hybrid technology lies obviously in its lack of CO2 emissions. However critics have counterbalanced that argument. The chargers required for hybrid cars run off mains electricity. If the mains electricity comes from fossil fuel power sources then it is hard to say that hybrids don’t produce CO2 emissions. They may not produce them on the road, but if powered off fossil fuel resources then they are indirectly as responsible for CO2 emissions as a normal petrol engine.

Hybrids are one of the best additions to the automotive industry in recent years. Whilst there is a way to go before completely green energy sources are made available, hybrids show a positive step in the right direction.

The recent popularity of hybrid vehicles seems to have caught the fancy of both vehicle manufacturers as well as customers.

The reason for this stems from the benefits derived from a hybrid vehicle. It has a conventional as well as a hybrid engine the combined mileage of which is phenomenal. Another disadvantage is the initial high price of such cars. Even though it is offset in the long run, it may put off a lot of potential buyers. On a long-term basis, hybrid cars tend to be cheaper to own and run than conventional cars.

With fuel prices on a high with no signs of dropping in the near future, if you are planning to buy a car, think hybrid.

The most obvious pro is the reduction in fuel emissions and the main reason people buy hybrids. An unfortunate con is the smugness people exude sometimes when driving a hybrid. This is particularly prevalent in California where for the past few years Hybrids have been the envy of other road cars as they were given access to the car pool lanes. This allowed them to avoid the usual choke of traffic and speed by more idle vehicles. Hybrid smugness may go down a bit though as solo hybrid drivers have now been banned from using the car pool lanes in Los Angeles. A recent report by the LA Times showed that only 6% of drivers on the Freeway were actual hybrid drivers. It was deemed that the use of the car pool lanes was unfair as hardly any of the hybrids using the lane were carrying more then the driver.

A less intrusive pro to hybrid cars though is the fact that many of them come with the technology to plug your phone in via Bluetooth. Usually reserved for the petrol engine vehicles, you can now enjoy a mobile roaming solution in your hybrid car. This technology will also be making its way to electric cars soon enough.

Whether or not you’re a fan of hybrids, there are many arguments to persuade you over whether or not to buy one. Just don’t do what Gerald did in South Park, and you’ll be fine.

Nowadays, everyone is very concerned about the environment, and it is this concern that has pushed car manufacturers to create fuel-efficient and hybrid vehicles, which are environmentally friendly.

The German car manufacturer, Porsche AG, announced the launch in June 2011, of the hybrid variant of their previous model the Porsche Panamera S. The new hybrid model according to the manufacturer has exceptional fuel economy, and there was compromising the dynamics and the sporty driving its predecessor was well known for.

The powerful three-liter V6 engine, which will deliver 380 horsepower at 5,500 rpm, with a fuel consumption of just over 48 miles per gallon, will launch the super-car from rest to 62 miles-per-hour in only 6 seconds, and with a top speed of 168 miles-per-hour.

When the car is in the electric motor driving mode the new Porsche Panamera S Hybrid will achieve a top speed of 33 miles-per-hour, with a distance driving range of 1.25 miles, depending on the road conditions and traffic.

However, the super-car will preserve the same level of standard features as the previous model, which includes full-leather interior, Bi-xenon headlights, front and back ParkAssisr, a eight-speed automatic gearbox, and a full touch-screen, which includes navigation audio and cruise control.

With a base price of $95.000 USD, the new Porsche Panamera S Hybrid will be released in the United States later this year.

The Panamera S Hybrid is not your usual vehicle and in spite of it being a Hybrid it is undeniably still a Porche. This is still a luxury vehicle and it will still appeal to that executive who is environmentally conscious or not.

We need to do everything that we can to reduce our carbon foot print. That does not mean taking baby steps like using cloth bags instead of paper ones while doing your grocery shopping or using octopus hr software to keep a tab of employees instead of using a huge array of registers to save paper. The time of half measures is long past. Do not get me wrong, reducing the use of paper is still very important and using cloth bags is probably one of the best ways to do that, but we need to do a lot more if we are to pass on a healthy vibrant and green earth to our descendants.

The amount of fuel you consume has a disproportionately large impact on your carbon foot print. Buying a hybrid or “green” car is one of the best ways to reduce the amount of fuel you consume. But most people complain that when you buy a hybrid, you get a high fuel efficiency and top of the line automotive technology, but that is all. What you do not get is a smooth ride, and the pleasure of getting behind a wheel is completely nixed.

Toyota has now come out with the perfect answer to those who objected to hybrid on account of poor driving pleasure. The future is here, and it is called the Lexus CT 100 (2010 model). This sleek eco friendly car is fun to drive, and gives an excellent 40 miles per gallon of fuel economy. If that is not a great deal, I do not know what is.
